Iris experienced emotional and physical abuse, as well as neglect from her parents, who struggled with substance misuse and untreated mental health issues. This situation led to repeated domestic violence, and Iris was eventually placed in protective custody. She is now doing much better. She takes part in many school activities, has just graduated from high school, and will soon start college to study psychology and sing in her college’s renowned choir.
