Hi! We're so happy to meet you!
We are very excited that you might be interested in making a wish! This page will help answer some commonly asked questions about the wish program, like:
1. How do I make a wish?
2. What can I wish for?
3. What should I expect after I make my wish?
1. How do I make a wish?
All wishes must come to One Simple Wish through one of our Community Partners. Community Partners can be any advocate supporting you through a state agency, nonprofit program, school, or church. Essentially, think about the supportive programs you are part of. Your advocate can use One Simple Wish as an additional resource to their other services.
To make your wish, please first ask your caseworker, advocate, or representative if they are registered with One Simple Wish as a Community Partner.
If they are: Please read the wish guidelines below and tell them what you wish for
If they are not: Ask them to register by going to our website and clicking Submit A Wish. They can also contact us directly from the website.
What if I am not part of any supportive programs?
If you are interested in locating programs that can provide wrap-around support, please check out organizations in your area at www.findhelp.org.
2. What can I wish for?
What brings you joy? Is there something you've always wanted to try? Do you need something for school or work? Is there a restaurant you've wanted to try?
Wishes are as unique as the people who make them, and we encourage you to think about what makes you smile. Remember, you don't have to make just one wish!
Here are some examples of wishes people ask for often, but remember, you can wish for whatever brings you joy:
Shoes & clothing (or gift cards to clothing & shoe stores)
Gift cards to restaurants
Gift cards to other places
Books
Laptops
Gaming systems
Bedding
Small appliances
Furniture & home accents
Art supplies
Musical equipment
Sports equipment
Tickets to amusements and concerts
There are just a few guidelines to follow:
Wishes must be under $500
We cannot send cash or Visa/Amex/Mastercard Gift Cards
We cannot make direct payments to you or another person
3. What should I expect after I make a wish?
Once you share your wish with your caseworker/advocate/representative, please give them a few days to enter the information into our site. Depending on whether we get all the information we need, it should be posted to the site within one week. If we have questions, we will follow up with your advocate. Please note that we can only respond directly to your advocate and cannot respond to your emails or inquiries. The time it takes for a wish to be granted will vary.
It may take a few days, or if it is a higher-value wish, it might take a few months, but we promise that once it is on the site, your wish WILL be granted!
Once granted, the wish will arrive at your advocate ASAP, and you can coordinate with them to find out exactly when you will receive it.
If you ever have questions, please feel free to check in with the person you made the wish with or contact us directly and provide your advocate’s name, email, and phone number. We'd be happy to follow up with your advocate on your behalf!
