HOLIDAY WISH

URGENT & HEARTBREAKING WISH ALERT

Posted Dec 23, 2022
As many of us pick up last minute gifts and prepare for the holidays, Lexie and her sister are facing one of life's most difficult moments - losing a parent. Their mother's health is declining rapidly, and Lexie and Sage are desperate to be by her side in her final days. While Lexie's bond with her mother has been tested many, many times throughout her time in foster care, it never broke. Lexie is a strong, single mama who is not only raising her own children, but also raising Sage, her teenage sister, as well. We are asking the One Simple Wish community to help us get Lexie, Sage, and Lexi’s daughter to her mother's bedside, so they can hold her hand, look into her eyes, and tell her how much they love her. $3,800 will provide airfare, lodging, and meals for the family and you can donate all or any amount right here or through Venmo at OneSimpleWish. NOTE: Questions asked in the comments may not be responded to. Email [email protected] - that is the best way to reach us. You will not find Big Wishes like these on our website. They are crowdsourced on social media. If you have questions about any of them, you can email [email protected] anytime. Any funds raised above what is needed are used to grant other wishes to those in need.

Lexie is 27 years old and lives in CO

Lexie is a hard working woman with a determined mindset. She doesn't let anything get her down and always pushes forward with an optimistic outlook. She is raising her 2 year old daughter to be a strong and independent woman while also raising her teenage sister. Together they are amazing and won't ever give up. In Lexie's spare time she loves taking videos of her daughter dancing, spending time outside, baking, and always has a smile on her face.

"My family and I are so grateful for the opportunity you gave to us. Thank you. It was such a scary time for us and I was having a hard time coping and understanding everything happening and the weight of it all was too much. I wasn't sure how I was going to make it there to see our mom before her health declined even more. You guys made that happen. Our trip was definitely an adventure and when we got to Missouri it was hard seeing our mom so out of it with a ventilator on and she just looked terrible. That night the doctors gave us an update and said she wasn't looking good still. We were all planning on the worst possible situation. I started looking up and trying to figure out how to handle the situation if we got that one phone call.... The next day when we went in our mom's health had taken a different route and she actually woke up!!! She still had to be on the ventilator and had a lot going on but it was the first good news that we had received. The doctor's say she can teeter back and forth, but they think she had completely given up and quit fighting for herself. I later found out that none of my other siblings who live near her went and saw her or anything. The doctors said that we gave our mom her fight back which could be the game changer here. My mom is currently able to talk again and is being admitted into a long term rehabilitation center to watch her and help her grow. This gave our family another chance to reconnect and try to have a relationship with our mom. This also may have given our mom one last chance at changing her life. I can't say for sure how she will use this opportunity, but I am hopeful. I full heartedly believe and so do the doctors that us being there saved our mom's life. Thank you for saving our mom's life. This trip also forced me to face my greatest traumas and abusers. I used it as an opportunity to test my growth and to rise above everything. I handled it beyond what my own expectations were and was able to set new boundaries with my bio family. Thank you for this opportunity to grow and learn more about myself and my family. Thank you for allowing us to see our mom and to possibly save her life. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything. Every single person who made this happen I cannot express to you my gratitude. "
