Parris is a vibrant child with dreams of becoming a veterinarian one day. She has experienced extreme trauma in the past and is finally in a nurturing, supportive place that allows her to be a child. She’s a natural leader and jumps right in to provide additional guidance when she spots someone who may need help (reading to younger children, teaching crafts, etc.). Parris loves to dance and be creative in all sorts of ways – step team dancing, drawing pictures, creating jewelry, making gifts, and creating costumes, are just a few examples. She is in 5th grade and began attending a new school at the beginning of the year. She has acclimated well to the new environment and quickly bonded with new friends, and while some subjects are challenging for her, she has been a “joy” in her classrooms, according to her teachers. Parris is earnest, honest, candid in her communications, and easy to get along with. She is curious, tech-savvy, and adventurous. Her latest conquest was a stacked ropes course that she completed with delight! Parris recently lost a step-parent whose death left a big hole in her heart. She is working through her grief with several support services.

Going to camp and being with children her age will open many doors of adventure and possibilities, and she is so excited to explore this part of herself this summer! Parris has asked for a week at the YMCA camp where she can spend time in the pool, playing sports, and playing games. But, most of all, she can't wait to just be like a "regular" kid! This wish will cover half of the cost of the came for her. (2 of 2)
