Derik is a fun, energetic typical young boy. He has jumped around from foster care to kinship care and hasn't had a lot of consistency in his life, but he is always looking ahead and has a positive outlook on his future. He is working on graduating high school and is planning on attending a trade school. Derik enjoys working with his hands and hopes to find a well paying job once he completes his certifications. He enjoys hanging out with his friends and is always trying new activities to keep himself focused and on track.

Derik just moved to Louisiana and is getting his life settled. He doesn't know a lot of people and was thrilled at the idea of getting a cat. Derik loves animals and always connects with them when he feels lonely. His new kitten will provide a lot of support and get him through those difficult days. He would love to be able to get some new cat toys, a scratching post, and other kitty items to make his new kitten feel right at home along with him!
