Brandi is a participant in the Unified Workforce Development (UWD) program, an economic development and upward mobility program for individuals living in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. She enrolled in the UWD program in January 2023 during a time in her life when she was going through a traumatic event. Despite what she was experiencing, she showed determination and tenacity by working on her goals consistently. Now, Brandi has full time employment, an apartment, and is a student. Brandi is very resourceful and undeterred when it comes to adversity. She also has a big heart; she is now helping others in her community, sharing information about community resources with others. Brandi says she wants to pursue a career in social work and is also interested in microbiology. Thus, she is planning to attend Central Piedmont Community College to begin her higher education journey. She has accomplished so much in a short amount of time. Brandi's story is a shining example of why Unified Workforce Development exists; with the right supportive services and community resources, Brandi is now well on her way toward achieving economic stability and upward mobility. Brandi is special because she is persistent, consistent, and courageous.
