A computer monitor for Michael to jumpstart his career

Posted Feb 14, 2024
Another amazingly generous supporter is underwriting the cost of all of the longest-waiting wishes, so this wish is just $25 – today only! *** Mike is steadfast in pursuing a career in welding and hopes to get into a vocational program in the fall to become certified. In the meantime, Mike has been offered a job to manage an online shop for a welder selling custom pieces, which would entail creating, editing, and streaming videos regarding the creative process of creating a piece to aid in the sales of the items. An additional selling point to this job offer is that the welder is willing to assist Mike in learning welding techniques until he can start his vocational schooling. Mike currently does not have the right equipment to accept the job offer and manage the online site and video editing. With this monitor, he will be able to make, edit, and stream the videos for the customs site to promote the sale of the items, benefitting not only his entrepreneurship abilities but also his welding abilities.

Michael is 18 years old and lives in NJ

Michael has been in foster care since he was a toddler and has faced a lot of loss in his young life. He is working on processing these losses as he focuses on his next steps. He is a goal-oriented self-starter. He enjoys reading, particularly poetic books, and being outdoors.

"Dear One Simple Wish, thank you for granting my wish for the monitor. I was able to start properly managing the online site for the custom pieces and getting some welding training in return. It really has made a difference being able to create and edit content with the monitor verses trying to do so with my phone. I have applied for a local welding program in the fall to start implementing what I have learned so far from my mentor regarding welding. This opportunity has helped me understand what will be required of me as a future welder and what it takes to run a business as well. Thanks again. -MP "
