Serenity, 6 years old, MO

Central Missouri Foster Care & Adoption AssociationSerenity is a sweet little girl who, although having a diagnosis of autism, thrives in life. She loves exploring and dancing and is a big cuddle bug! She is a social butterfly and has energy for days! Serenity is known for giving the best hugs! Serenity does struggle with language and speech, which makes forming relationships with her peers difficult, but she desires those friendships and is working hard to learn to build them. Serenity is happy to be in a stable foster placement.
Serenity struggles with some basic skills, such as speech and language. This causes her to have some negative behaviors typically brought on by frustration. Her care team works hard to teach Serenity some self-soothing techniques, which include physical activities. She uses climbing and play to self-regulate, so having this at home will help her progress. Serenity desires to build friendships and to be able to maintain those relationships. Having her own playset will help her continue to work on regulation. These are tools she can use to work toward improving her overall well-being.
