Julia is studying public and nonprofit management and leadership at Indiana University. Since aging out of foster care, Julia has done a variety of advocacy work within the child welfare system, including inspirational speaking, drafting, testifying for legislation, representing foster youth perspectives on informational panels, and sitting as a youth representative on the Commission for Children and Family. Julia is passionate about a variety of issues within child welfare, such as permanency, reunification, incarcerated parents and rehabilitation, congregate care usage, and older youth outcomes. As an advocate for change, Julia’s focus is to shed light on issues within the foster youth community and help provide lived experience expertise within legislation to help improve foster youth outcomes as a whole.

Julia is an extremely organized person who loves to coordinate her planner with different colors. These are her favorite pens to write with. Between college and working, having pens in different colors comes in handy! Julia finds it easier to get everything done in an orderly fashion when she can color code her to-do list and set priorities down for herself. This way, nothing is ever forgotten, and Julia can succeed in her place of employment and education.
