A bike for Lukas who doesn't have reliable transportation
Lukas, 18 years old, ME

Acorn & OakLukas is a great young man who is mature beyond his years. CPS has been a constant in his life due to domestic violence and untreated mental illness on behalf of his parents. This has caused Lukas to manage himself for most of his life. He and his parents were evicted and found themselves homeless. Those who work with him at school say Lukas is smart, quiet, and so insightful. He wants more for his life and is determined to graduate and work towards career goals that provide him a place to call his own.
Lukas was homeless, and his things were stored in storage. His grandmother, with whom he now lives, could not pay the storage fee, so all of his personal items were confiscated by the storage company. Lukas would like to get a job to help replace the things he lost and offer support to his grandmother. He has been through a very challenging eight months and is digging deep to work his way through. He is asking for a bike so that he can get to work, as his grandmother does not have reliable transportation. There is no public transportation for him to rely on, and walking is a challenge as he does not live near his employment options. His case worker is helping him get a job and prepare for his senior year in high school. Lukas has expressed interest in college to study psychology so he can help other children whose lives have been impacted by caregivers with untreated mental illnesses.
