Patrick is a young man who can be described as the loving, patient and kind older brother to his sister who has developmental delays. Since a young age, Patrick has been in the care of his maternal grandmother. He has carried a lot of burdens. While in care, he has witnessed the effects drugs, addiction and instability by his family members. His days have been a delicate balance of finding the motivation to go to school or the quiet responsibilities of helping take care of his sister. Patrick has embraced his responsibilities and has shouldered his role with a great maturity.

Patrick stands as a beacon of hope and determination in his family as the first to attend college. His enthusiasm for his community college experience is infectious; he thrives in the classroom and is genuinely passionate about learning. However, beneath this promising journey lies a significant obstacle that threatens to hold him back. While Patrick excels in his in-class assignments, the struggle begins with his online homework. The lack of access to a computer at home has become a formidable barrier. The limited availability of computers in the campus library only intensifies his frustration, as he juggles his coursework amidst these constraints. Imagine what could happen if this hurdle were removed. With the right resources—a laptop of his own—Patrick would not just meet the academic demands of his course; he would soar. Having a reliable computer would empower him to fully engage with his studies, explore new opportunities, and truly unlock his full potential.
