Rin lives as a participant in a semi-assisted living program for Transition-Aged Youth. She is working toward attending college, where she plans to major in creative writing. Rin entered the Department of Human Services (DHS) care as a teen and later moved with a family member. However, she reentered DHS care and has been in the system ever since. By the time she turned 18, Rin had lived in 10 different placements. In her free time, she enjoys playing video games, participating in Dungeons & Dragons (DnD) with friends, writing poetry, and reading books.

Rin is currently living in a college housing unit near the Portland State campus. The building's laundry facility has only a few machines, which frequently require maintenance and are often out of order. Having a portable washing machine for her dorm would help her keep her clothes and living space clean during the stressful time of her freshman year.
