She entered the foster care system at around 15 years old, spending time in various group homes. Growing up, Lindsey was thrust into independence with little guidance from her parents, having only met her father once and lacking any meaningful connection with her mother. To survive, she resorted to stealing clothes, making her own way to school, and providing for her own meals. Lindsey eventually entered care after getting into trouble at school and confiding in a counselor about her struggles.
