Jared was removed from his mother's care, but fortunately, he was placed with his maternal aunt and is grateful to be living with family. He loves science, math, and running track, and he looks forward to joining the military and becoming an engineer after graduating from high school.

Jared finds comfort in living with family after his removal from his mother, but he often regrets losing access to the family photo albums that remain with her. He feels devastated by the absence of pictures that would help keep his memories of his family vivid. Jared wishes he could have a Polaroid camera so he can start capturing and recording new memories as he adjusts to his separation from his mother. He hopes that taking photos to create new memories will help ease his sadness over losing access to his mother and the family photo albums.
