Miriam is a bright and resilient young girl who settled in New Jersey with her family after fleeing conflict in Afghanistan. Despite the challenges of adjusting to a new culture and language, Miriam remains playful, curious, and kind. She enjoys drawing, playing with her classmates, and helping her younger brother learn English.

Miriam and her family recently moved to New Jersey to escape the conflict in Afghanistan. It's a small place, and Miriam has found herself sharing her space with her siblings. With the summer heat, Miriam and her siblings are really struggling to stay cool in their small bedroom since they don’t have air conditioning. The hot days and nights are tough for them. An air conditioner would really help them feel more comfortable and get better sleep for the rest of the summer!
