Preferred Family HealthcareJamie, also known as JP, has been in Children's Division (CD) custody since February 2022, after discovering her mother deceased in their family home. Her father has been incarcerated for most of her life and is not expected to be released until 2033. JP is a bright individual and is extraordinarily talented in art. She created a mural for our Sheriff's Department, which is displayed in their lobby. Despite her abilities, JP struggles to make friends and has low self-esteem. She has dealt with depression for most of her life, and the loss of her mother has intensified this struggle.
JP is someone who rarely asks for anything, making it a challenge to get her to accept even a clothing voucher. However, there is one item she has expressed a need for: a laptop. This isn’t just a luxury for her; it’s essential as she prepares to start college in August. JP has been accepted to two good colleges, and she has made the decision to attend MSU to pursue an associate’s degree in general arts. Throughout high school, JP relied on her school-issued laptop to complete her assignments, but as she transitions to college, having her own laptop will be a game-changer. Owning a laptop will not only make her academic life easier, but it will also help alleviate some of the stress she’s been feeling.
