Danica is the oldest of four sisters who were removed from their mother's care in 2011. Their mother was found smuggling fentanyl while crossing the US-Mexico border and was subsequently incarcerated after receiving a federal sentence. Initially, Danica and her three younger sisters were placed together in a foster home, but they were eventually separated, with the two youngest sisters being adopted out of state. This left Danica and her sister Lola devastated as they completely lost contact with their younger siblings. However, they remain each other's primary support system. Danica has graduated from cosmetology school and has become a busy and sought-after hairstylist.

Danica is bursting with pride for her younger sister, Lola, who's been accepted into her dream college in Hawaii with a scholarship! However, Lola is anxious about flying alone and moving to a new state for the first time. As Lola's biggest supporter, Danica desperately wants to accompany her to Hawaii to help her settle into her new dorm. She's been saving, but the cost of a roundtrip flight, on top of other expenses, is a significant concern. A contribution towards the airline ticket would be a huge help, ensuring Danica has enough saved to make this incredible trip possible and provide much-needed support for her sister during this big transition.
