Shaman, who goes by SD, spent six years in the foster care system, where they faced many barriers regarding inclusivity and support. Through it all, SD remained committed to living fully and staying positive. They learned to find comfort and stability in sports, friends, and time spent outdoors. SD is extremely proud of their resilience and determination, and hopes to give back to the community and other foster youth. In the near future, SD sees themself running a business they feel passionately about, living independently, and keeping up the activities that bring them fulfillment.

SD is still recovering from the traumatic impacts of the Los Angeles wildfires, which unfortunately destroyed his laptop. As he works towards saving enough money to buy a new one, he is currently hoping to get a tablet. With a tablet, SD can manage his school and work activities while staying connected to his friends and family during this challenging time. He is also focused on keeping up with his assignments and participating in online classes, as he doesn’t want to fall behind.
