Marcos has faced significant challenges in his life. After being removed from his home due to physical abuse from his grandfather, he now lives with foster parents. Struggling to fit in at his new school, he finds it hard to communicate in English. His favorite color is white, and he enjoys exercising and playing soccer, though he doesn’t support any particular team. He also feels pressured by his biological mother in Guatemala to send money home, which adds to his stress. Despite these challenges, his foster parents remind him to focus on being a kid, going to school, and choosing to work if he wants.

Marcos migrated to the U.S. when he was 14. He attended high school but often missed classes because he worked to send money to his mother back in Guatemala. As a result, Marcos is behind on credits, and it will take him three more years to graduate from high school. He would like to complete his GED instead. Marcos needs a laptop to do his homework, especially as he plans to attend college. He also enjoys playing video games and watching movies, so having a laptop would also allow him to engage in these activities.
