Sarah is a young adult who experienced ACS involvement during her teenage years. She was voluntarily placed in a group home placement to return to her mother's care. While in the group home placement, she experienced a different environment she never wanted to return to. By age 17, she returned to her mother's care and started focusing on school, work and the journey of her life. Now she is a current student at Hostos Community College striving to obtain her degree in Nursing. Sarah works at a charter school that serves scholars in kindergarten through fifth grade. She is a leader on CASA-NYC’s Youth Advisory Board. Sarah is passionate about becoming a midwife and being part of women's birth story.

Sara is taking a doula certification program and does all her coursework online using her iPad. She uses it every day to take notes, review materials, and study. To make her learning easier, Sara has found an iPad case with a keyboard. Typing on the iPad's screen can be tricky and slow, but with a keyboard, she’ll be able to type faster and get her work done more efficiently.
