Joelle has mostly worn hand-me-down sneakers. Her family faced financial difficulties even before she entered foster care, and now, in her current placement, there are no funds for her to get new sneakers. As a result, she typically shops at the local thrift store. However, she really wishes for a brand new pair of sneakers. She chose a black pair with pink accents, which she believes will help them stay looking clean longer. Having these new sneakers would boost her self-esteem, and she would be proud to wear them to school throughout the year.
