An iPad for Maddie to write poetry and preserve memories

Maddie, 15 years old, CA | 1 DAY WAITING

Wish submitted by:

Voices for Children - San Diego

Maddie and her two younger siblings' mother passed away, and they were removed from the care of their father due to significant physical abuse. Unfortunately, Maddie and her siblings were placed in three separate foster homes which are geographically far, which makes visitation infrequent and difficult. Maddie loves writing, especially poetry, and longs for the days she can see her siblings more regularly. Maddie also loves animals, and greatly misses her family dog, whom she has not seen since her removal from her father's home.

Maddie does not have a phone or computer, and her wish is for an iPad, where she can save photos of her siblings, whom she is separated from, and write poetry. Poetry writing is an important creative outlet for her, and she is able to document her thoughts, hopes, and fears through poems in a way that feels cathartic to her. Maddie was not able to take any of her belongings from her family home when she was removed, including her photos and books, and is excited to have a way to save her writing and take new photos to start building memories again.
