Liliana has spent most of her life in and out of the foster care system. When she is not in foster care, she has lived with various family members for short periods. Recently, both Liliana and her daughter were placed back into kinship care with her aunt. Despite her challenges, Liliana is a hardworking young woman who is determined to graduate from high school while also managing a part-time job to support her daughter.

Liliana has always wanted to fit in with her classmates. Moving from school to school has made it difficult for her to make friends, and she often feels different or left out. A big part of this feeling stems from her clothing; she typically wears hand-me-downs or secondhand clothes. Liliana dreams of having a new jacket like the ones her peers wear, as it would help her feel more confident and give her a sense of belonging with something that is truly hers.
