Makayla is in permanent custody of the county and has spent several years in foster care. Despite the many challenges she has faced, she continues to show resilience and growth, always! She is currently attending a behavioral school where she is working on self-control and coping skills. Her behavioral school is playing a huge role in how she is working so hard to better herself. The cards Makayla was dealt were not easy ones, and she has had to work through a great deal of trauma to get where she is today.

Makayla is eagerly hoping for a laptop for her birthday. Outside of school, she meets with a therapist weekly to help manage her anxiety. She loves watching scary movies, playing video games, and connecting with friends online. Video games have become a positive outlet for her, allowing her to relax and have fun. Having her own laptop would enable her to chat with the friends she’s making at school, which is currently a challenge for her foster family to afford. A special birthday gift like a laptop would not only celebrate her progress but also serve as a reminder that she deserves to feel valued and celebrated.
