Joey's bio mom worked hard, seven days a week, while living as an undocumented immigrant. Unfortunately, Joey was left home unsupervised much of that time. When he was discovered home alone instead of in school, he was removed from her care. Now he's attending school regularly, improving his English proficiency, and getting the academic and medical interventions he needs for the first time. Joey loves toy cars, his pet fish, and taking long, relaxing baths.

Joey's favorite toys are his cars, which come in various colors and are scattered throughout his bedroom. However, he has been struggling with bedtime; despite using prescribed sleep aids, he often takes hours to fall asleep and feels very restless. His foster parent believes that if Joey could sleep inside his very own race car, bedtime might become easier and even more enjoyable for him.
