Carl is a very happy-go-lucky young man who loves comic books, music, fishing, and drawing. He has some special needs and was recently removed from his home. Carl was not placed with his younger siblings because he needs more assistance with his daily living functions. He has not allowed his placement in foster care to stop his desire to work hard in school so that he can graduate on time. Carl does not allow his disability to stop his enjoyment of life. He loves visiting with his siblings every weekend and always has pictures for them to take back of his drawings.

Carl will be celebrating his birthday at his favorite restaurant with his siblings who have been placed in different homes. For his special day, he would love a pair of new sneakers that would give him a sense of dignity and confidence, help him fit in with his peers, and allow him to feel more secure and less distracted by his appearance.
