Jenelle is a sweet and cheerful girl currently in out-of-home care with her older sister. This is her third time in such a situation, as she has been facing family trauma since she was a baby. Despite these challenges, Jenelle is very resilient. She expresses happiness about being able to stay with her sister and loves the two dogs in her foster home, which she enjoys playing with and caring for. Jenelle works hard at school, and even though she's nervous about entering middle school without her sister—who has started high school—she has successfully made friends and is unafraid to ask for help with difficult classes. Jenelle remains hopeful that she can continue to live safely with her sister and rebuild connections with extended family members, whom she has been kept isolated from.

Jenelle expresses that she generally feels okay with her situation during the day. However, when bedtime comes, and she is alone in her room, her thoughts start to weigh heavily on her.
