Damarys is a resilient and compassionate young lady who was placed in foster care. As the oldest of five siblings, she has always carried a tremendous amount of responsibility on her shoulders. Even after experiencing severe hardships and feeling guilty for situations far beyond her control, Damarys remains deeply connected to her family. Although she and her siblings were unable to be placed together, Damarys’ love for them remains her guiding motivation. She worries about them, advocates for them, and dreams of the day they can all reunite. Her caregivers describe her as selfless, protective, and incredibly thoughtful.

Damarys and her family experienced an eviction just before she entered foster care, leaving her with very limited belongings. She currently owns only one pair of shoes, which are extremely worn, and she urgently needs a new pair. A fresh pair of shoes would give Damarys both comfort and confidence, especially as she prepares to start at a new school. She is hopeful about making new friends and beginning this next chapter with a fresh start.
