Theo is attending college as an independent student, classified as a "homeless/unaccompanied youth." Theo's mother lives in another county and provides no financial support. His father's abusive behavior forced him out of the house, resulting in homelessness. Theo dreams of being an artist and has clearly demonstrated his ability by maintaining a high grade point average through his time at college. Although Theo works to support himself while in school, art supplies in particular are expensive, leaving little extra for daily living and other expenses that might normally be supported through family.

Theo is a full-time fine arts student in his junior year. Theo supports himself, and it gets hard when he is only able to work two days a week. Theo tries to save money by purchasing essentials through thrift shopping, but sadly, he cannot find a pair of boots that are in his budget and in good condition. New boots will not only keep his feet safe and warm, but also allow him to focus on his studies.
