Joceyln is a hard-working young lady currently enrolled in our Independent Living Program. Her goal is to emancipate from the system in the spring when she will earn her high school diploma. She is currently enrolled in virtual school and also works part-time at a local department store. Jocelyn was placed in foster care at the age of 15, while pregnant. She had also spent time in foster care from the ages of 7 to 10. She has been placed in a total of 3 foster homes before moving into her Independent Living Apartment. Jocelyn became a teen mom at the age of 15 and is determined to provide a better life for her daughter. After her high school graduation, she has plans to attend a 2-year vocational school so that she can have a career that allows her to provide for her child. Jocelyn takes her academics seriously and maintains and A/B average. She enjoys spending any free time she has with her daughter, listening to music, and doing hair and make-up. She is a determined and inspirational young lady

Jocelyn reflects on the times when she and her siblings received very little or nothing at all for Christmas and birthdays. She is determined to break this cycle of neglect and abuse with her own daughter. Jocelyn wants to create a magical Christmas morning for her little girl and dreams of establishing wonderful memories and traditions that her daughter will cherish. Although she does not have much extra money, she hopes to shop for a few new toys and items that she knows will excite her daughter on Christmas Day.
