Foster Alumni MentorsKristiona was placed in foster care at the age of two. She was adopted but later bounced around from foster home to foster home at the age of nine. After being returned to foster care, she aged out. Despite facing everyday obstacles and medical issues, Kristiona became independent and started her college journey, which has been successful. She has graduated with her Bachelor's degree and is now looking to continue her education to work with children. Currently, she works as a teacher at an early head start preschool and enjoys every moment of it. Kristiona is committed to breaking the generational cycle of abuse and lack of education. Her ultimate goal is to own and run a summer camp for children in foster care, providing them with not only fun but also therapeutic and mentoring support.
Kristiona is proudly working toward her Master’s degree in Special Education and has reached an important milestone—she’s halfway through the program and just completed the Fall 2025 semester with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Maintaining that momentum means everything to her, especially as she enters her Spring 2026 semester and begins her Capstone, a challenging, multi-semester project that will shape the final stretch of her journey. Balancing graduate school with her teaching career, ongoing medical challenges, and supporting her parents through their own medical needs has been incredibly demanding. Yet, Kristiona continues to persevere with dedication and heart. A high-quality planner would give her the structure and organization she needs to stay grounded and keep moving forward. Granting this wish would support Kristiona through the most crucial phase of her program and help her stay focused, balanced, and confident as she works toward becoming the educator she’s striving to be.
