Vanessa is requesting a black peacoat because she currently lacks a proper coat, making it increasingly difficult for her to manage the cold weather. With temperatures all over the place, going outside without sufficient warmth on those colder days poses a risk and complicates her everyday tasks. At the moment, Vanessa has only a few small jackets that do not provide adequate coverage or insulation to protect her from the cold. A peacoat would give her the warmth, comfort, and durability she needs, significantly improving her ability to stay safe and comfortable while handling her daily responsibilities.
