Hughes' mother was killed in a car accident. His father has a no-contact order due to several charges. As a result, Hughes and his sister were placed with their aunt until their grandmother could secure temporary emergency custody. Hughes suffers from severe asthma, and his grandmother is also in the process of getting some tests done due to potential developmental delays. He is a very loving little boy who enjoys being held and cuddled. He is active and loves to play, but his grandmother has to limit his running due to his asthma.

Hughes could really benefit from an air purifier, given his severe asthma and the conditions of the older apartment where his family lives. Despite his grandmother's best efforts to keep the place clean, dust seems to linger in every corner. She hopes that introducing an air purifier will enhance the apartment's air quality, reducing allergens and dust in the air, ultimately providing Hughes with some much-needed relief.
