Mikey is a loving boy who lives with his dad and older sister. He is unique in that he is autistic and non-verbal, which adds to the depth of his character. Tragically, Mikey’s mom can no longer see him and his sister due to her abusive behavior. She has been labeled unfit after a heartbreaking incident where she left Mikey and his sister alone in a park following an argument with their dad. Both Mikey and his older sister have suffered physical abuse at her hands, and there were times when they went without food. Now that their dad has custody, he faces immense challenges in making ends meet while providing for his two beloved children. Mikey has a passion for puzzles and enjoys spending quality time with his family. He also loves counting games, which bring him joy and help him connect with those around him. Your support could make a meaningful difference in their lives and help this loving family heal from their past.

Mikey is a bright young boy who communicates differently due to his non-verbal autism. Recently, his Behavioral Analyst recommended a communication tablet to help him express himself better. They’ve been trying it out during his ABA therapy sessions, both at school and at home, and the initial results have been really encouraging. In a trial session, Mikey showed he could use the tablet to convey his thoughts and feelings, which is such a big step for him. There are times when he gets frustrated—especially when his sister and dad don’t quite understand what he wants. Those moments can lead to anger, and sometimes he shuts down or acts out. His therapist is optimistic that with the right tools, Mikey can learn to communicate his needs more clearly and manage his emotions better.
