Mikey is a loving boy who lives with his dad and older sister. Unique in his autism and non-verbal communication, he adds a rich depth to their family dynamic. Mikey has a passion for puzzles and enjoys spending quality time with his sister and dad. Counting games bring him joy and help him forge connections with those around him. Unfortunately, their mother can no longer be part of their lives due to the poor choices she has made. Now, with custody of his beloved children, their father faces immense challenges as he strives to make ends meet while providing them with a loving home.

Mikey is a bright young boy who communicates differently due to his non-verbal autism. Recently, his Behavioral Analyst recommended a communication tablet to help him express himself better. They’ve been trying it out during his ABA therapy sessions, both at school and at home, and the initial results have been really encouraging. In a trial session, Mikey showed he could use the tablet to convey his thoughts and feelings, which is such a big step for him. There are times when he gets frustrated—especially when his sister and dad don’t quite understand what he wants. Those moments can lead to anger, and sometimes he shuts down or acts out. His therapist is optimistic that with the right tools, Mikey can learn to communicate his needs more clearly and manage his emotions better. The communication tablet could really make a difference in his day-to-day interactions, giving him a voice and helping him build confidence. Mikey is excited to learn, and this device could allow him to work at his own pace, celebrating every small victory along the way.
