Amy is a young lady who has experienced significant instability and has moved through four placements in a short period of time. She is currently residing in a hotel, which has been especially challenging for her. Amy’s sister has already been adopted, and Amy often expresses a strong desire to return to a previous foster home where she felt more secure and connected. Amy wants to belong and be “cool,” just like other kids her age, and she does her best to find a sense of normalcy in her day-to-day life despite the many challenges she faces. Navigating foster care while also experiencing developmental delays can be overwhelming at times; however, Amy continues to show effort and resilience as she seeks connection, routine, and opportunities to feel included and understood.

Amy has been facing some emotional challenges lately. To cope, she turns to hands-on, creative activities like coloring and crafting, which help her express herself. Recently, she told her advocate about a new idea and wants to decorate a model car. This project excites her, especially since she's not in school right now and has been spending a lot of time in a motel. She believes that working on a model car kit would be a fun way to stay engaged and bring some joy into her days.
