Karen has faced extreme adversity. Her father was recently deported, and her mother is unwell, so she and her siblings are taking care of themselves. Despite all of the challenges she is facing, Karen is working toward her goals! Karen loves reading and spending time outdoors, and she hopes to work in the medical field.

Karen and her siblings are doing their best to manage household expenses during a challenging transition. While they're receiving some grocery support from a local nonprofit, it doesn’t stretch far enough to cover their entire week, leading to stressful gaps in their food supply. Her older sister is working full-time, and Karen is dedicated to finishing school while also searching for a job to help support the family. A grocery gift card would be a tremendous help, allowing them to fill those gaps and ensure they have enough food to eat. This kind of support would not only alleviate some immediate financial pressure but also create a little more stability in their lives, enabling Karen to focus on her studies and work towards graduating high school.
