Maria and her children have experienced significant trauma and loss over the past few years, beginning with the passing of her husband. Since then, the family has faced ongoing instability, including an eviction and false accusations made by their landlord—claims that were later proven fraudulent. As a result, Maria and her children were forced out of their home and became homeless for a period of time. Most recently, the family was finally able to secure stable housing. Maria is illiterate and unable to work due to immigration barriers, which makes it difficult for her to independently support her children. She is currently connected to several community services, including CII, to receive linkages, advocacy, and ongoing support. Despite the challenges she has faced, Maria remains committed to creating safety and stability for her children as they rebuild their lives.

Maria recently became homeless and has just moved into a very small room, where space is extremely limited. Because of her immigration status, Maria is currently unable to work, which makes it difficult for her to meet basic needs for her family. A dresser would make a meaningful difference. It would help her organize clothing for herself and her children, reduce clutter in their small living space, and ease some of the daily stress they are experiencing. This support would also help her financially by providing an essential household item she cannot afford at this time.
