Maria and her children have experienced significant trauma and loss over the past few years, beginning with the passing of her husband. Since then, the family has faced ongoing instability, including an eviction and false accusations made by their landlord—claims that were later proven fraudulent. As a result, Maria and her children were forced out of their home and became homeless for a period of time. Most recently, the family was finally able to secure stable housing. Maria is illiterate and unable to work due to immigration barriers, which makes it difficult for her to independently support her children. She is currently connected to several community services, including CII, to receive linkages, advocacy, and ongoing support. Despite the challenges she has faced, Maria remains committed to creating safety and stability for her children as they rebuild their lives.

After recently becoming homeless and moving into a very small rented room, Maria and her children no longer have many of the essential household items they once relied on. The limited space has made it difficult for them to share meals comfortably or have a designated place to sit together as a family. Because Maria is unable to work due to her immigration status, replacing these items on her own is not financially possible right now. A small kitchen table would make a meaningful difference. It would give Maria and her children a place to eat, sit, and spend time together, helping bring a sense of normalcy and joy during a very challenging transition. It would also ease some financial strain by providing an essential item that they cannot currently afford.
