Fostering Great Ideas

Jamilah is a very sweet, funny, outgoing young lady who was in foster care as a teen. She loves to do hair, nails, and make up and dreams to be a cosmetologist one day. She loves her siblings with all her heart and works hard to stay on top of her goals in life.

Jamilah grew up in foster care and has struggled with homelessness as an adult, facing life with a limited support system. Now, she’s turning a corner: she’s set to move into her own apartment on April 1st with an FYI housing voucher and will start a full-time job as a mental health associate at a psychiatric hospital for teens with autism. Living in a rural area without public transportation means Jamilah has been relying on expensive daily Uber rides to get to work, which makes it tough to save money for a car. An ebike would really change things for her, giving her a reliable way to get around without breaking the bank. This would help her save up for a vehicle faster and work toward a more stable, independent future.
