KFS&CApple is a wonderful young girl who has autism and a seizure disorder. She doesn’t talk a lot, which makes it hard for her to interact with others, but she shows her feelings through her love of music and dance. This is when she really shines with happiness. She lives with her loving single mother and two siblings, who also have autism. Taking care of a home with children who have special needs can be tough, but her mom works very hard to give them all love and support. Recently, Apple started ABA therapy, and she has already made great progress. She is learning important skills like washing dishes, tracing, and managing situations that could overwhelm her. These are important steps toward becoming more independent and confident. Her behavior analyst and therapist are committed to helping her connect with others and navigate the world better.
As a child living with autism, Apple experiences sensory sensitivities that can make everyday routines like eating especially challenging. One of her greatest difficulties is with food textures. Many typical school lunches are overwhelming for her, making it hard to find options she feels safe and comfortable eating. Because of this, having access to familiar, texture-friendly meals is not just a preference it is essential to ensuring she stays nourished, focused, and ready to learn throughout the day. Apple relies on carefully selected foods that meet her sensory needs, and preparing these meals consistently can be a challenge for her family. Having the right lunch items available allows Apple to feel more at ease at school, reduces anxiety, and helps her fully participate in her day alongside her peers.
