A laptop for Lanita who will be attending college next year

Lanita, 26 years old

Wish submitted by:

Mecklenburg County Guardian ad Litem

Lanitta is in the 11th grade, and she is a very committed and hard-working student. She finished the 10th grade with a 4.18 G.P.A. and takes honors-level classes. Currently, Lanitta catches the bus for school at 5:15 a.m. and travels over an hour to the high school she attended last year, because she feels it will provide her with a better education and experience than other schools closer to where she currently lives. She loves reading and when she grows up she wants to be an accountant. Lanitta has been in foster care for three years and there no plans for her to return home or to live with relatives. She will most likely age out of foster care and continue on to college. She plans to study accounting in college. Lanitta has attended a couple of summer accounting programs for students in foster care, and she is on the local leadership board for SAYSO, a state-wide organization for youth in foster care.

Lanita is wishing for her own laptop. Her high school classes are very computer-based, and she has no personal computer. She has also moved placements in the last three months, and should that happen again, it is important that she have a computer that can continue on with her.
