A set of pots and pans for Charlotte who is learning how to cook for herself

Charlotte, 20 years old, MO | 28 DAYS WAITING

MO DSS Children's Division - Shannon County

Charlotte has spent most of her life in foster care. She graduated high school a semester early and is now focused on furthering her education. Two of Charlotte's passions are running in cross-country meets and welding, which she uses as outlets to manage her anxiety and cope with past traumas. Charlotte is determined to achieve her future dreams. At the age of 14, she realized that her aspiration to create art pieces from metal would eventually become her career. She has many talents and is passionate about art, particularly in metalworking. Charlotte often gifts her creations to various places in her town, and her artwork is displayed at local venues, including the courthouse and city hall.

Charlotte is living on her own now but is still in care. She is working on learning important life skills, especially cooking. Right now, she often goes without healthy meals or relies on simple foods like sandwiches. She wants to learn how to cook, but she feels nervous because she has burned food before using thin, low-quality pots and pans. Charlotte would feel more confident and safe in the kitchen if she had better-quality cooking supplies to learn with.
