Malachi is a former foster youth and full-time student at California State University, Sacramento, where he participates in the Guardian Scholars Program. He is an active member of California Youth Connection (CYC), serving as both a youth member and a participant in the Policy and Legislation Committee. In addition to his academic work, Malachi is employed as a behavioral interventionist and serves as a youth advocate, supporting young people navigating trauma, instability, and system involvement. He is currently pursuing a degree in English, with a focus on advocacy, policy, and youth-centered systems reform. Drawing from his lived experience in foster care, Malachi is committed to improving outcomes for transition-age youth, particularly in the areas of housing, education, and system accountability. He is also a writer and poet, using his voice to bring awareness to the realities of foster care and resilience beyond it.

Malachi is a young adult who aged out of foster care and is working hard to build a stable life. He is balancing school, a job, and program requirements connected to his housing and support services. His car recently broke down, and he does not currently have the funds to repair it. Because of this, getting to work and other important commitments has become very difficult. Without reliable transportation, it is harder for him to get to work, attend classes, and make it to required appointments. He is currently using public transportation, but it does not always fit his schedule or get him where he needs to go on time. Ride-share credits like Lyft or Uber would help him get around more reliably during this transition. This support would help Malachi keep his job, stay on track with school and housing requirements, and continue moving toward independence.
