Imani is an inspiring young woman who has faced more change and uncertainty than most. After entering the foster care system when her mother could no longer care for her, she found herself in a world that felt completely unfamiliar. Eventually, Imani returned home to live with her mother and grandmother in a small room, where she witnessed her mother’s hard work juggling multiple jobs in hopes of rebuilding their lives. This experience has given Imani incredible resilience, teaching her how to stay focused amid chaos and keep pushing forward despite the odds. Her dedication to education is driven by a newfound passion for criminal justice, sparked by her experiences with the legal system and its effects on people's lives. Recently accepted into college, Imani's journey is a testament to her strength, determination, and hope for a brighter future.

Imani is the first in her immediate family to be accepted into college, which is a major accomplishment she is very proud of. She is excited to begin this new chapter and is focused on building a strong academic future. As a first-year college student, she will be adjusting to dorm life, new responsibilities, and managing her time and schoolwork independently. She plans to focus mainly on her studies, while also finding healthy ways to relax and adjust to college life. Imani is requesting a television for her dorm room. This would help her unwind after long study days, stay informed, and reduce feelings of isolation during this big transition. It would also help make her dorm feel more comfortable and like a home. Coming from foster care, Imani is starting college with very few personal belongings. A television would provide comfort and stability as she adjusts to living on her own for the first time. She remains dedicated to her education and is working hard to build a better future.
