Eileen & Callie's Place

Avian aged out of foster care after being placed with her grandparents in Texas. However, due to their religious beliefs, she felt isolated and unaccepted, which led her to return to Spokane. During her time in state custody, she experienced trauma while living in group home facilities. Although she moved back to Spokane, she couldn't live with her parents since she spent most of her childhood in state care and does not have a relationship with them. Despite these challenges, Avian is determined and manages her education, personal responsibilities, and long-term goals effectively.

Avian is an introvert and a homebody who finds comfort in being at home and the companionship of her cat. After her experiences in care, she has finally started to feel secure again. She is actively working with her caseworkers to step out of her comfort zone, build connections with others, and achieve her social goals. Currently, Avian is employed at Costco, but she has difficulty using crowded buses and navigating busy public places. To make her daily commute to work and school more manageable, she is hoping to receive an electric scooter. Riding public transportation and walking long distances for 2-3 hours each day takes a significant toll on her energy and time. Having an electric scooter would not only simplify her travel but also give her a sense of freedom and safety.
