Miguel did not have an easy childhood. His father left the country when he was two, leaving his grandmother and mom to be his caregivers. At times, he said it felt like his grandmother was more of a mom than his biological mom. His home life made it difficult for him to make friends or attend events because he would shut himself in. As time passes, his mom and grandma continued to do their best but still struggled. His aunt saw these struggles and knew something had to change so she ultimately decided to take him under her wing through the ward of the court. To this day, he has never taken this for granted as she has supported him through high school, college and adulthood. As of now, he is current enrolled at SJSU and majoring in Computer Engineering, and it's all thanks to her.

Miguel has been using the same backpack for a couple of years to get to class, but it has definitely seen better days. The top of the backpack has a large hole, yet he has continued to rely on it for the past year. Now, as he approaches his final two years of college as a Computer Engineering major, he feels it's time for an upgrade. With aspirations of pursuing a career in robotics or game design after graduation, Miguel wants a backpack that reflects his passion and readiness for the exciting challenges ahead. A new backpack will not only provide the practicality he needs for his studies but also symbolize his journey toward his future career.
