SD DSS - Pennington CountyAtlas is a sweet, active little girl who is currently in foster care with her brother. She is autistic and has genetic disorders, but she continues to make progress with the support and encouragement of those around her. Atlas is learning to communicate and has recently started saying a few words, which has been an exciting milestone. She attends a specialized daycare where she works on developing her communication and developmental skills. She loves to run, jump, and stay busy exploring the world around her. Atlas is also a very picky eater and is sensitive to certain textures, but she continues to learn and grow in her own unique way. Her curiosity, determination, and joyful spirit bring happiness to everyone who knows her.
Atlas is autistic and is still learning to communicate. At times, when she is outside, she runs off or drops to the ground, which can make it difficult to keep her safe in busy or open areas. A wagon would help her family keep her safe while still allowing them to go on walks and enjoy outings together. It would give Atlas a secure space of her own where she can sit comfortably with her favorite blanket. Having this familiar and calming space would help her feel more comfortable while also giving her family peace of mind as they spend time together outside.
