Katia is a bright girl who is studying at a local college and hopes to one day become a lawyer. She aspires to advocate for keeping siblings together in foster care situations and bringing additional benefits to children aging out of the system. She loves crafting, singing, and exploring new places with her younger siblings, with whom she has reconnected over the past couple of years. Katia was born with an issue with her lumbar spine, which makes standing for long periods and walking difficult for her. Throughout the years, she has been in and out of multiple foster homes and has faced bullying from others due to her walking difficulties. Despite these challenges, she has done her best to keep a smile on her face and persevere. However, as the years have gone by, her ability to walk long distances has worsened, even with physical therapy.

Katia was born with a condition affecting her lumbar spine, making it difficult for her to stand for long periods or walk long distances. Despite years of physical therapy, her ability to walk has continued to decline. Katia dreams of having a mobility scooter, as it would help her move around more easily. With one, she could enjoy activities with her siblings over the summer and navigate her college campus more comfortably. Katia is hopeful that her wish will come true, allowing her to engage more fully in life. Every day, she becomes more excited about how a mobility scooter could give her more freedom and independence in her daily life.
