Jaylen is a shy and serious young girl who truly loves school. She is an avid reader and is extremely curious about the world around her. Despite her serious nature, she has a good sense of humor and can laugh at herself. Most importantly, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her sister, where they often find themselves getting into all sorts of mischief in the neighborhood.

Jaylen really needs a bike so she can ride alongside her sister. The family currently has only one bike, which was given to them by Grandma and Grandpa, with whom they are living. This means that only one child can ride at a time. It would be much better if Jaylen could join her 9-year-old sister for companionship and fun. However, Grandma and Grandpa are financially strained because they have taken in three children. The children's mother was evicted and did not secure the girls' belongings, causing their bikes—along with many other items—to go missing.
