Jerrod has weathered more than nine years in foster care alongside his older brother, and through it all he's stayed close with him and a small circle of longtime friends. He's active and loves basketball, plus video games and sports in his downtime. Now settled into his own transitional living apartment, he's building independence step by step and starting to explore an interest in construction work.

Despite plenty of disruption along the way, Jerrod has kept his grades up and is closing in on his high school diploma. Next week, he starts a program that lets him work partly from home, but he doesn't have a computer, and the nearest library is a 20-minute trip away. A laptop would let him keep working toward finishing his diploma before November, right from where he lives.
